Maintenance Mechanic
POSITION: Maintenance Mechanic
JOB SUMMARY
The maintenance mechanic is the lead position for equipment maintenance scheduling and trouble shooting. The person in this position must be familiar or have the aptitude to understand the mechanics of heavy equipment and a processing facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Must be able to service vehicles and heavy equipment
- Must have general knowledge of mechanical equipment specifically augers and conveyors
- Willingness to learn about processing equipment in order to diagnose trouble area
- Work with Plant Manager and Safety Director to maintain a safe working environment following the guidelines of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)
- Follow and enforce maintenance schedules/equipment walk arounds
- Operate forklifts
- Drive front end loader
- Repair equipment as necessary or provide cost analysis for outsourcing
- Supervise and clean equipment, grounds and warehouses
- Operate processing facility
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
Experience, Competencies and Education:
- Communication skills
- Ability to find parts on a computer
- Self-motivated
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Skills such as welding or carpentry are valued
Physical Demands:
- Some heavy lifting and considerable moving of equipment required
- Lifting of objects up to 80 lbs.
- Must be able to stand/walk during shift
Training Provided for:
- New Miner MSHA Training
- MSHA Refresher Course
- Lock-out Tag-out
- Forklift Safety
- Quality System Awareness
- First Aid
Personal Protective Equipment required:
- Safety Glasses - furnished
- Hard Hat - furnished
- Dust Mask - furnished
- Steel Toed Boots
- FR's NOT required
Work Environment:
- Year-round outdoors may be required
- Regularly exposure to dust and noise
- Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments
- Typically a day shift Monday – Friday
- Hours of operation vary depending on workload
- Weekend, Overtime and On-Call hours are possible, and generally predictable
